Pre-Pointe Assessments: Step En Pointe with Confidence
With our in-house expert - Dr Linda Baak (Chiropractor)
Transitioning to pointe work is a significant milestone in a dancer’s journey, requiring a unique combination of strength, mobility, and technical readiness. To ensure this transition is both safe and successful, our clinic offers comprehensive 45-minute Pre-Pointe Assessments.
Conducted by Dr Linda Baak with 20 years of chiropractic expertise and a lifelong foundation in dance—including 40 years of personal experience and pointe work—this assessment bridges the gap between clinical biomechanics and the specific physical demands of ballet.
What the Assessment Includes:
Biomechanical Screening: A detailed evaluation of ankle range of motion, foot alignment, strength, mobility and functional turnout. This includes critical testing of balance and proprioception (the body's ability to sense its position in space), ensuring the stability required for the narrow base of support provided by pointe shoes.
Personalized Home Exercises: Tailored movements designed to target specific weaknesses, improve neuromuscular control, and enhance technical readiness.
Teacher Collaboration: A formal report provided to your dance teacher to ensure a unified approach to your training and milestones.
Professional Recommendations: Clear guidance on readiness and any necessary corrective strategies to prevent injury and promote long-term foot health.
Prepare for your next chapter in dance with a professional assessment that understands the demands of the studio as well as the science of the body.
