At Hornsby Chiropractic, we start by precisely determining if, where, and why you are experiencing a chiropractic problem.
In a nutshell, chiropractors adjust your spine to remove pressure or interferences to the nerves that connect your brain to your body. Chiropractors call these interferences vertebral subluxations. Left there long enough, subluxations result in symptoms. The types of symptoms you experience depend upon where pressure or interferences occur.
Peculiarly, not all symptoms display from their points of origination. For example, pressure in your upper neck can interfere with nerves in your scalp, face, or eyes, resulting in headaches or migraines. Interferences to your lower back can cause leg pain or even irritated bowels that display as diarrhoea or constipation.
Detection and removal of vertebral subluxations is a Chiropractor's specialty. In many cases, delivering the adjustment to your spine is the easy part. Knowing specifically which level to adjust, in what direction, and with how much speed and amplitude is the hard part.
Here at Hornsby Chiropractic Centre we start with a comprehensive medical history with emphasis on your complaint followed by the relevant orthopaedic, neurological and chiropractic examinations.
If your chiropractor requires xrays a referral is given to you – these are bulk billed by the radiology practice and then delivered to our clinic where your chiropractor will explain these to you on your next visit.
In most cases treatment will be given on your first visit ( a lot of other clinic wait until your second visit to commence any treatment ). We feel that the more relief we can give you as soon as possible the better option.
Your chiropractor will then outline a course of treatment specifically tailored to you and your complaint and this will vary from person to person.
